Sunday is “Burton Morris Day” in Allegheny County, after the famed local pop artist.

County Executive Rich Fitzgerald made the distinction as Morris’ exhibit “Poptastic!” opens at the Heinz History Center.

Morris is a locally-bred artist, hailing from Pittsburgh and earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University.

His art has been featured on the set of “Friends,” the Academy Awards, Olympic games, as well as numerous advertising campaigns.

The exhibit runs for several months, ending in February of 2014.
