Who is Alexandra Nechita?
Alexandra Nechita is a contemporary artist, an internationally established American-Romanian painter who from a young age became known for her Neo-Cubist art style. Later on, she started incorporating other styles besides Cubism, such as Futurism, Dadaism, and Surrealism, creating a style of her very own.
About her early years
Nechita was born on August 27, 1985, in Vaslui, Romania. At eighteen months Nechita and her family moved to the US, where she developed her skills in ink, oils, and watercolors. As a prodigious talent she was strongly influenced by the works of the famous cubist Pablo Picasso. At the age of 2, she already showed her strong artistic interests. She would constantly draw and filled up the coloring books her parents gave her. This started concerning them because she was not going outside enough to play with other children, so they stopped buying her coloring books. In spite of this, Nechita continued to find ways to draw, now on her own, on blank white paper.

There was one person in particular who advised Alexandra’s parents to let her pursue formal training and urged them to let her develop naturally and innocently; this person was her drawing teacher at the Art Center she was enrolled in while in third grade.
Nechita’s Art style
While painting Nechita focuses in color, space, and in displaying strong political messages, usually calling for universal peace and freedom. “Through painting I have a voice and I can make a change” – the artist has said.
Appearances
From a young age Nechita attracted strong media attention. She has appeared in countless programs such as CBS Sunday Morning, NBC Today, The Oprah Winfrey Show, The Rose O’Donnell Show, NBC Nightly News with Tom Brokaw and the David Letterman Show. Nechita was introduced to collectors globally in the 90s, at the age of 9.
Nechita’s Accomplishments

Nechita was offered her first solo exhibit at a local public library when she was 8 years old. After this, prestigious galleries in Los Angeles, California began inviting her to exhibit her work, which soon spread across the states. At the age of 11, Alexandra was selected as the official artist for the 39thAnnual Grammy Awards, Polaroid’s 50th Anniversary, and the Andre Agassi Foundation. She also became the youngest artist to sign with International Art Publishers. In 2008, Nechita graduated from UCLA, with a degree in Fine Arts.

Nechita currently works and lives in Los Angeles with her husband, daughter and three dogs; and she continues to be recognized as an accomplished international artist.
